The 40 Hours Devotion involves the collective adoration of the exposed Eucharist for 40 hours, commemorating the time Our Lord spent in the tomb. During this devotion, individuals are encouraged to visit the Blessed Sacrament and recite a sequence of an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory be five times. The final cycle is dedicated to the intentions of the Holy Father. By doing this after Confession and Communion, one can receive a plenary indulgence. A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who visit the Most Blessed Sacrament to adore it; a plenary indulgence is granted, if the visit lasts for at least one half an hour. In Ave Maria Parish, the forty hours are broken up over a period of three days: Monday, March 4th through Wednesday, March 6th, from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm. Solemn Vespers are held each evening from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, featuring reflections guided by Fr. David Vidal.
